Did You Know You Can Build Muscle Without Meat?
We didn't! Like most gym goers, we were self proclaimed ‘Meatheads’ and believed the only way to build real muscle was to eat meat with every meal in order to keep our protein intake high. On top of a high meat intake, we would also chug down whey and casein protein shakes (mixed with dairy milk) twice a day, ignoring the side effects of spotty skin, feeling bloated & seriously bad gas problems. How wrong could we have been!!
We always spoke to each other about maybe one day trying out a plant-based diet as we’d seen many videos, blogs and online content from various social media influencers such as Seb Eubank, Chakabars & Dominick Thompson explaining the numerous health benefits they has experienced first hand. However, it wasn’t until we watched the ground breaking documentary ‘What The Health’ and started doing in-depth research into plant based diets that we realized how wrong we were.
Our research showed that animal-related products are NOT a necessity in keeping fit or building muscle! We were shell shocked as this went against all our beliefs regarding what a healthy diet consisted of!
We continued our research into plant based diets by reading books, watching videos, connecting with plant based athletes via social media etc, after which we concluded we would become Vegans and adopt a plant based diet ourselves.
We continued training hard at the gym as normal, with a new lease of life and energy due to our new diet. As most weight trainers do, in order to measure how much muscle mass we’d gained, we stepped up onto our scales and was shocked at how much weight we had lost.
We turned to the supplement market to find something that would assist us in training and tried numerous brands of protein shakes available that were suitable for Vegans, however they either tasted bad, weren’t helping us maintain the size we were after, or they weren't affordable. This was when we decided to create our own.
We gathered a team of nutritionists and sports scientists and spent over a year trialing and testing different formulas while monitoring the effect it was having on athletes physical performances. We did this until we had full range of supplements which vastly improved our physical performance to help us reach our fitness goals, tasted great and most importantly was affordable. We maintained our plant based diet and started taking our supplements alongside it and within two months we were both back to our ideal weight with more energy, feeling better than ever and lifting heavy.
After experiencing these results first hand, we were eager to help others who have also adopted a plant based diet and were experiencing the same problems we once did. Our mission is to show everybody that you don’t need meat to build muscle and you can live life compassionately and thrive on a plant based diet combined with our cruelty-free supplements.
